Experience and Roles in the Industry and Contract Research Projects

Business Analyst Role

·       Systems design – work process flow, business process flow

·       IT design reviews to ensure compatibility and interoperability of computing systems

·       Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging such systems.

·       Provide advice and recommendations on emerging IT trends

 

As a result of the business analyst work undertaken in the respective projects over the past 10 years, I have developed a solid working knowledge in different areas and can highlight the following as strengths in my skill set:

 

·       Business and technical requirements analysis, modeling, verification and methodology development in accordance with recognized industry standards and best practices.

       Basic working knowledge of any SQL-based query language.

       Project management skills.

       Ability to exercise independent judgment and take action on it.

       Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills.

       Excellent understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.

       Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

       Ability to act in a logical and efficient manner with keen attention to detail.

       Highly self motivated and directed.

       Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure.

       Strong customer (user) needs orientation.

       Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

       Extensive practical knowledge in writing reports and presenting the findings from projects.

       Ability to facilitate and participate in training sessions, presentations and meetings.

User Experience Designer/Information Architect Role

       Conduct end user needs assessment and task analysis using appropriate techniques, e.g. interviewing, ethnography, site usage data analysis, etc.

       Understand, translate and refine business needs and requirements.

       Articulate and support strategies to business stakeholders.

       Perform heuristic site evaluations and competitive analysis; communicate results and implications of findings.

       Work closely and iteratively with users and stakeholders including managing their expectations, presenting, and facilitating design sessions.

       Conduct and/or assist usability testing and other user validation exercises.

       Create and revise quality information architecture documents including but not limited to; site maps, personas, wireframes, flow diagrams/process maps, and detailed functional specifications.

       Work with designers and developers to refine the user interface.

       Assist with user acceptance testing.

As a result of the approximately 14 years of user experience/information architect work undertaken in the respective projects, I have developed a solid working knowledge in different areas and can highlight the following as strengths in my skill set:

  • Ability to:
    • Interview stakeholders and users.
    • Analyze and communicate the findings.
    • Create concepts and communicate ideas.
    • Create wireframes, sitemaps, user flows, and storyboards.
    • Be the advocate for users.
    • Iterate with the technical team and ensure the quality.
    • Manage design schedules and processes.
    • To clearly communicate design directions to various team members.
    • To think creatively, collaborate with others and adjust the design.
    • Work closely with cross-functional team, including business and product development to create a positive user experience.
    • Ensure that work is in line with and to achieve the goals of the enterprise.
    • Balances business strategy, branding issues with user needs and technology.
    • Understand user needs.
    • Define and document interface requirements.
    • Create system usability guidelines, design guidelines, and prototypes.
  • Aptitude for quick creative thinking with attention to detail within demanding deadlines.

 

Project Management Role

As Project Lead and Project Manager I was responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of the specific project.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities included:

  • lead the planning and implementation of project
  • facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables
  • define project tasks and resource requirements
  • develop full scale project plans
  • assemble and coordinate project staff
  • manage project budget
  • manage project resource allocation
  • plan and schedule project timelines
  • track project deliverables using appropriate tools
  • provide direction and support to project team
  • quality assurance
  • constantly monitor and report on progress of the project to all stakeholders
  • present reports defining project progress, problems and solutions
  • implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs
  • project evaluations and assessment of results
