GCI is a society that advances the education of the students of the NMMU by Creating awareness about conserving our environment, issues around climate change & reducing NMMU’s Carbon Footprint. Members are involved in programs throughout the year that promote reducing the consumption of Water & Energy in all our residences and broader campuses. Effectively managing our waste & also negotiating & engaging all relevant stakeholders. We create Platforms where students can express themselves creatively, through visual art, poetry, theatre, fashion design, media, etc. We embark on Community outreaches, where we network with relevant stakeholders and educate children and youth in schools, other Universities, as well as other communities at large. GCI promotes awareness campaigns, projects and events, together with other societies of NMMU, the SRC and all other faculties to assist NMMU in reducing our carbon footprint.
